At the recent launch of The Power and The Glory: Jamaica in World Athletics, from WWII to the Diamond League Era, National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB) invited three of its longstanding customers, and active sports enthusiasts: Ambassador Herschel Dale Anderson, Derrick Cotterel and Donald Reynolds, to not only share in the release of the publication but to also be among the first recipients of the commemorative guide for Jamaica’s athletics accomplishments. “It means the world to me that NCB thought to include me in this momentous occasion and to be one of the first recipients of this historic publication. I will never forget this…,” expressed Ambassador Herschel Dale Anderson, at the launch of publication.Belinda Williams, NCB Manager, Group Corporate Communications, said that “As we draw closer to Jamaica’s Independence and NCB’s 175th anniversary, there is heightened anticipation as to what is to come next. We are taking every opportunity during this period to find novel ways in which to say thank you to our customers for their support.”
The Power and the Glory, written by Michael Grant, Hubert Lawrence and Bryan Cummings, highlights Jamaica’s culture in the field of athletics. It is richly illustrated with a myriad of photographs, artifacts and medal tables featuring every global medal that has been won by Jamaicans and is sure to serve as an inspiring piece of literature on Jamaica’s achievements in athletics on the world stage.
Amidst the mounting anticipation for Jamaica’s Golden Jubilee Anniversary and the London 2012, Olympics, NCB, the nation’s premier homegrown bank, remains steadfast in its commitment to supporting activities which seek to strengthen the pride of Jamaicans everywhere, and it is against this background that NCB partnered on this publication.
