JEA awards NCB a 2nd Year for its support
The National Commercial Bank Jamaica Ltd. (NCB) continues to be a winner, recently receiving one of the Jamaica Exporters Association’s National Export Awards for 2007.
The award, which declared NCB a winner for Exporters’ Support Services, in the Financial Category is meant to acknowledge the Bank’s contribution to and support of Jamaican Exporters through providing relevant financial product and service offerings. NCB has worked closely with the JEA over the years, collaborating on a number of initiatives to build synergies and facilitate financing opportunities for Jamaican exporters. The NCB/JEA Export Expansion Facility brought on stream in 2006, is one such initiative. This special loan facility was specifically tailored to meet the needs of members of the island’s exporting community.
Commenting on the award, Mr. Patrick Hylton, Group Managing Director for NCB, emphasized the importance of collaboration within the private sector. “We must form strategic alliances which will create a framework that will facilitate economic growth,” Mr. Hylton said. In addition, he noted that there must be increased initiatives such as upgrading of plant equipment and factories for production, which will ultimately lead to greater output, increased employment and higher quality products.
“These production initiatives,” Mr. Hylton said, “as well as investing in innovative product creation, will lead to unique products, the establishment of a niche market for a Brand Jamaica which meets international standards, and will increase Jamaica’s global competitiveness.”
Mrs. Bernadette Barrow, NCB’s Snr. Assistant General Manager – SME shared in the delight of the recognition and stated, “NCB continues to explore ways in which to cater to the varying needs of the numerous clients we serve and we remain committed to creating relevant products that are geared towards fostering entrepreneurship, strengthening Jamaican businesses and helping to build our economy”.
