NCB provides $3million to help athletes excel in Beijing

“NCB will support avenues that allow Jamaicans to excel and to showcase positive values,” Sheree Martin, Senior Assistant General Manager in the Group Marketing and Communication Division at National Commercial Bank (NCB), expressed those views at the handing over of NCB’s sponsorship cheque of $3million to the Jamaican Olympic Association.
This sponsorship is in addition to the long-term association with the MVP Track and Field Club. The MVP Track and Field Club represent 10 athletes who were selected to compete at the Olympics, including Asafa Powell, Bridgette Foster-Hylton, Sherone Simpson and Michael Frater. NCB committed $6million, over four years to the development of the athletes training programme.
The Jamaican delegation to the Olympics in Beijing will be over 85 strong, including over 55 athletes. Speaking at a recent send-off for the athletes, NCB’s Group Managing Director Patrick Hylton said “This is arguably the strongest contingent that Jamaica has ever sent to the Olympic Games.”
In addition to the sponsorship of the Jamaica Olympic team, NCB is also having a credit card promotion, which features visuals of Asafa Powell.
