NCB Chairman receives Highest Honour

Chairman of the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited, The Hon. Michael Lee-Chin on May 15, 2015 received the A.G. Gaston Lifetime Achievement Award, Black Enterprise’s highest honour for business excellence, recognizing the entrepreneurial spirit of an individual who has established an extended and consistently distinguished record of success. His achievement was celebrated at the 20th Anniversary of the Black Enterprise Entrepreneurs Celebration and Awards Dinner in Atlanta, Georgia, where he also shared his business strategies and philosophies to more than 1000 attendees, at a special Fireside Chat session, entitled: ‘A One-on-One Conversation with Michael Lee-Chin’. Mr Lee-Chin, in his response, expressed special recognition and congratulated Black Enterprise of promoting role models like Mr. Gaston. “Role models are perhaps the most essential instruments to encourage aspirants to demonstrate commitment and dedication towards any cause. Role models are powerful catalysts to raising the confidence, enthusiasm and energy level of an entire generation,” Mr. Lee-Chin pointed out. He noted that during the 1960’s, Mr Gaston was the voice in the wilderness as an apostle who spoke of the need of blacks to accumulate green power by going into business. “But it was only in the last few years… were we able to witness the first glimmering of a re-awakening interest in the importance of the business enterprise. Tonight, Mr Gaston would be so proud of you,” Mr. Lee-Chin told the large gathering. Black Enterprise is the premier business, investing, and wealth-building resource for African Americans. Since 1970, the organisation has provided essential business information and advice to professionals, corporate executives, entrepreneurs, and decision makers.
