NCB and S.A.N.T.A. bring Christmas Cheer
18 Dec 2010
Over 150 children and adults residing at the Jerusalem Home will have a brighter Christmas thanks to National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCB). NCB through its Foundation partnered with the S.A.N.T.A. (Seeing a Need, Taking Action) charity organization in their annual fundraising golf tournament, which will benefit the charity. Upon learning of the needs of the residents of the Jerusalem Home, NCB's marketing team decided that they would also undertake an additional initiative to assist with bringing Christmas cheer to the Home. Charmaine Wright, NCB's Group Marketing Manager spoke to the reason NCB decided to help, "Our mantra of building a better Jamaica extends to helping those in need. When Jacinth Morgan Collie approached me with the idea of giving gifts to the residents of the Jerusalem Home, I did not hesitate to support it. Most importantly, we also invited the extended NCB family who have embraced the idea and are also giving their personal support." NCB's sponsorship of $200,000 will also allow S.A.N.T.A. to make contributions to other charities including: the Stella Maris Foundation and Mustard Seed Communities. The Jerusalem Home caters to the physically and mentally challenged. Some of the residents are HIV positive, while there are others who have been displaced due to various circumstances. Ms. Wright was proud of NCB's tradition of philanthropy, "NCB continues to assist those in need and bringing good cheer, not only at Christmas, but all year round. In addition, the outreach we give through the N.C.B. Foundation has impacted the lives of many Jamaicans directly and indirectly. One of the benefits of doing well is the ability to share with our fellow Jamaicans." Through this partnership with S.A.N.T.A. charity, NCB has donated a fully decorated Christmas tree to the Jerusalem Home in Spanish Town, part of the Mustard Seed Communities. The Home will also receive the gifts donated by NCB and gathered through the staff appeal. The team will be led by Manager of Corporate Communications, Belinda Williams, who will present each resident of the Home with a Christmas gift on Friday, December 17.
