NCB Celebrates Leadership with a Difference

14 Mar 2012

"We persevered and today we are better professionals and employees of NCB," declared Annya Walker, Research Analyst, NCB Capital Markets and valedictorian at NCB's Corporate Learning Campus (CLC) Excellence Awards ceremony. Walker's message was one of praise for the institution, which plays an instrumental role in the professional and social development of employees of the National Commercial Bank of Jamaica Limited (NCB). The CLC Excellence Awards ceremony was held at the Terra Nova Hotel and celebrated over 100 employees who completed leadership and development programmes at the CLC. Rickert Allen, Senior General Manager, NCB Group Human Resources, in his opening remarks, challenged the graduates to"change the concept of success". NCB Group Managing Director, Patrick Hylton, reiterated this idea, as he emphasized that NCB needs to "continue to build on the foundation already established as nothing less will ensure success." This, he identifies, can be accomplished through "engaging in the process of continuous learning, developing capabilities, skills, and possessing the right mindset." Michael Lee-Chin, Chairman of NCB and visionary behind the CLC's leadership programme, served as the guest speaker at the event, congratulated the graduates and charged them to not become complacent, as "complacency begets failure".  They were encouraged to go back to their respective offices and be inspiring leaders for the rest of the team to follow. The CLC, an accredited institution, provides training to NCB employees with specific focus on their professional development, as a means of grooming individuals to help persons realize their true potential and worth. The cohorts were awarded for their accomplishments in several programmes, namely: Branch Management, Leadership Development, Middle Management, Management Development, Wealth Management and Operations Management.
