"It was phenomenal, wonderful, what a surprise," opined Monique Mata a Caribbean-Canadian Emerging Leaders' Dialogue (CCELD) delegate from Trinidad and Tobago about the evening of rich Jamaican edutainment and delectable dining hosted by the National Commercial Bank on Monday June 6 at the Mansion, Devon House. Mata is one of 12 delegates from Guyana, Bermuda, Canada, Dominica Republic, Barbados, Belize and Anguilla visiting the island as part of the CCELD; an initiative which brings together a diverse group of 120 influential and emerging young leaders to participate in a series of unique learning tours, over a period of two weeks. Traveling together in groups of 10-12, the participants visit selected locations and engage in dialogue on various topics essential to development. They also exchange ideas and perspectives with community leaders, workers and volunteers from a range of sectors. In this vein, the young delegates got the chance to liaise and lyme with NCB senior executives, other representative from corporate Jamaica and past CCELD delegates during the corporate dinner on Monday. The National Commercial Bank supports the initiative as it ties in with the bank's overall commitment to the youth and education. "NCB through its Foundation has aligned the event to its mandate of Youth Leadership and Development and as the leading financial institution, we were pleased to facilitate the ongoing leadership dialogue here in Jamaica" asserted Sheree Martin, CEO of the NCB Foundation and General Manager NCB - Marketing Communications & Service Delivery. In her remarks, Martin told the delegates that one of the most important qualities of leadership "is the ability to listen carefully to others and to make sound decisions under pressure." She also encouraged the youngsters to make the best use of the linkages made during the tour and to always strive for excellence in their various fields of training and experience
