NCB appoints new board director

Hon. Michael Lee- Chin, O.J., Chairman of the National Commercial Bank Jamaica Limited (NCBJ) is pleased to announce the appointment of Oliver C. Mitchell, Jr. an attorney, advisor and consultant with over 28 years of experience in executive human resources matters and litigation avoidance issues. Mr. Mitchell is currently a member of the Board of Directors for FS Global Credit Opportunities Fund, a Philadelphia-based mutual fund established in 2013, and a member of its audit and governance committees. He comes to the NCB Board with a distinguished record of public service, having been a member of the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania State Employees’ Retirement System, a public employee pension fund based in the United States with about $30 billion in assets. He is also a member of the fund’s Audit Committee. NCB Chairman Michael Lee-Chin said “We are pleased to have Oliver Mitchell join us and are anticipating that he will be a value-added to our seasoned Board. And through his international experience and impressive professional background and practice he will help to build on what we have accomplished as we continue to enhance NCB and work diligently to move always forward.” Mr. Mitchell previously was general counsel and secretary for Carpenter Technology Corporation of Reading, PA. In addition to his roles as chief legal officer and corporate secretary, he was responsible for state, federal and local governmental relations at Carpenter. Carpenter is a NYSE-listed company that manufactures and sells specialty alloys. Mr. Mitchell also was chairman of the Dealer Policy Board at Ford Motor Company. In that role, he was responsible for the resolution of disputes between Ford and its dealers. He was appointed to that position by Ford’s Board of Directors. Before that, he was an assistant general counsel at Ford. In that role, Mr. Mitchell had general supervisory responsibility for all employment, consumer, commercial, dealer, insurance and Superfund lawsuits brought against Ford or its subsidiaries in the United States. He also had global responsibility at Ford for delivery of legal advice concerning labor and employment issues. He also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the District of Massachusetts and was First Assistant District Attorney for Hampden County, Massachusetts.  Mr Mitchell was a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers and a member of the Board of Directors of the National Judicial College and served as its Treasurer and Chairman of its Audit Committee. An experienced trial lawyer, who has tried civil and criminal cases as lead counsel in a variety of state and federal courts, Mr. Mitchell has been admitted to the bar in Pennsylvania, New York, Michigan and Massachusetts and is presently an attorney and consultant in Reading, Pennsylvania.
